Description

Aventyl is an oral medicine which overcomes the symptoms of depression. Nortriptyline is the main pharmaceutical ingredient found in the Aventyl. Nortriptyline comes under the category of Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs). It is recommended for the management of depression. TCA, Nortriptyline also enhances the level of Norepinephrine and Serotonin, two Neurotransmitters that inhibits the action of Acetylcholine which is another Neurotransmitter present in the human brain. It helps to treat the main symptoms of depression.

Indications of Aventyl

  1. Aventyl is recommended to control mental or mood problems like depression.
  2. It can also be used to treat nerve pain like peripheral neuropathy, post herpetic neuralgia and other mood disorders like anxiety, panic disorder.
  3. It can also help to stop smoking.

Doses of Aventyl

  • For Adults- The recommended dose of Aventyl tablet is 25 mg orally 3 times in a day.
  • For children- The prescribed dose of Aventyl tablet is 30 to 50 mg 3 times in a day.  You should swallow whole tablet with a full glass of water. You can take it with or without food. Take the medicine regularly on a same time.

Who should not take Aventyl?

Under some medical conditions, this medicine is prohibited;

  • If the patient is hypersensitive to Nortriptyline and other ingredient of Aventyl.
  • Do not advise Aventyl to the patient has been treated with MOA inhibitors in last 15 days.
  • If the patient has been suffering from bipolar disorder (manic depression), convulsion or epilepsy in the past.
  • If the patient is previously having another drug for the management of depression.
  • Do not recommend this medicine to the patient has been treated with Linezolid or Methylene blue injection.
  • If the patient is having hepatic (liver) or renal (kidney) disorder.
  • If the patient has been suffering from Cardiac disorder, Hypertension, High cholesterol, Stroke in the past.

Storage environment of Aventyl

The Aventyl medicine should be stored at below mention conditions;

  • Aventyl should be stored at room temperature, 20 to 25 ˚C.
  • Keep this tablet away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity.
  • Keep it in cool, dry and hygienic place.
  • Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Use with some cautions

Some precautions should be followed before taking Aventyl;

  1. Aventyl should be avoided in lactating and breast feeding mothers.
  2. It should not used by those patients who are less than 18 years of age.
  3. Avoid consumption of Alcohol, while consuming Aventyl.
  4. If you are taking any vitamin supplements or herbal products, use Aventyl with some cautions.

In case of skipped dose of Aventyl

A probability of missing a dose of Aventyl is insignificant because it should administer at the nighttime.

Never take the 2 doses of Aventyl medicine at the same time.

In case of overdose of Aventyl

 In case of overdosing of Aventyl immediately consult with your doctor and get some medical treatment.

Symptoms of overdosing of Aventyl are feeling of sleepiness, confusion, tachycardia and bradycardia (irregular heart beat), fainting or loss of awareness.
