The bactericidal activity of this drug occurs because of the blockage in the enzyme topoisomerase-II and enzyme topoisomerase-IV. These enzymes are responsible for DNA replication, transcription, strand supercoiling, repair, recombination, and supercoiling. When those enzymes are blocked, the cells will automatically die.

The Dose for Bacterial Conjunctivitis: From day one to two, you must instill one to two drops in the conjunctival sac of affected eye thrice per day, every two hours when you are awake. On day three to seven, put one to two drops in the affected eye every four hours when you are awake.

The dose for Corneal ulcers: On day one, put two drops in the affected eye every 15 minutes for first 6 hours and later two drops in affected eye after every 30 minutes for the remaining day. On the second day, use two drops in the affected eye every hour. On day three, to 14, put two drops in the affected eye every four hours.
