Careprost plus is an effective medicine that works brilliant for the growth of eyelashes if you have an insufficient and less dense eyelashes. The active ingredient of Careprost plus is Bimatoprost, belonging to the class prostaglandin analogue. Another use of this medicine is in glaucoma, it increases the concentration of fluid in the eyes known as intraocular fluid. This sterile preparation is the best treatment for glaucoma. Careprost plus should be used only once in a day. To get better results, do not miss any dose during the course of the treatment. The side effects can be observed in some patients. Uses of Careprost Plus:

  1. This medication is very helpful to increase the density, length and thickness of the eyelashes.
  2. It also increases the concentration of fluid in the eyes and relieves the symptoms of glaucoma.

Mechanism of action:

Bimatoprost is structurally similar to prostamide; a prostaglandin therefore works alike to prostaglandins. It increases the outflow of fluid from the eye thereby reducing intraocular tension which is a symptom of glaucoma. Thus it mitigates glaucoma.

Storage of Careprost Plus:

This medication is a sterile preparation therefore should be handled carefully. It is to be stored at room temperature (below 25 degree C), in a cool and dry place and should be protected from heat and light. Theeye drop bottle should be discarded after 4 weeks of the opening.

Dosage and method of administration of Careprost Plus:

This medication should be instilled or applied only once in a day. Always wash your hand and face properly prior to use this medication. If you use contact lens and make-up, then they should be removed prior to applying or instilling Careprost Plus. Always use the eye drop with the help of the applicator which is provided with the eye drops. Place the eye drop on the applicator and gently draw a line across the margin of the upper eyelids starting from the bottom of the eyelashes and moving to the inner part of the eye lash line. Extra solution should always be blotted. Always dispose the applicator after each use and use a new applicator for each application. The important point to keep in the mind is this medication should not be applied for the lower eyelid.

Missed Dose:

In case if you miss a dose, use it as soon as you recall. However, if it is almost the time for next dose, then you should skip the missed dose and continue with your next scheduled dose. Double dose should be avoided in any case.

Side effects associated with Careprost Plus:

You may have the given side effects while using Careprost plus:    Redness of the eye, Dryness of eye, Pain in eye, rapid changes in vision, Eye infection, Brown discoloration of the iris, Darkening of the skin around the base of the eyelashes, Hair growth in other parts of skin where the medicine touches.

Precautions that should be taken while using Careprost plus:

  1. Do not worry if the eye drops gets into the eye, because this medication is used for the treatment of glaucoma also.

  2. To have an effective result, do not miss any dose any day.

  3. Inform your health care provider if you are allergic to any ingredient of the medication.

  4. Inform your doctor if you have any history of glaucoma, iritis, lens extraction, etc. before initiating the dose of the medication.

  5. Contamination should always be avoided. For this, care should be taken while handling the bottle of the eye drop. Close the cap of the bottle tightly.

  6. Replace the applicator after each application.

  7. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant and breastfeeding before using this medication.

Contraindications:

Careprost plus should not be used in the following conditions: 

 

  1. If the patient has hypersensitivity to bimatoprost then this medicine should not be used. The various inactive ingredients of this preparation can also cause allergic reaction. Therefore, the labels of the preparation should always be checked prior to use.
  2. If you are pregnant or breast feeding women then use this medicine only after getting approval from the doctor.
  3. Patient having liver disorder, kidney dysfunction or respiratory disorders should not use this medicine.
  4. If you are administering any other medicine having bimatoprost as active ingredient for any other condition of eyes then do not use Careprost plus.

 

Drug interactions:

Following medicines should not be administered with Careprost plus:
