Description

This medicine helps in lowering the raised intraocular pressure and prevents blindness.

Action mechanism of Travatan eye drops:

Travoprost is a synthetic prostaglandin analog. It reduces pressure in the eye by augmenting the drainage of aqueous humor, which is done mainly through enhanced uveoscleral outflow and to a lesser degree, trabecular outflow facility. Thus, the outflow of aqueous humor out of the eyeball lowers the pressure within the eye.

Dosing schedule of Travatan eye drops:

Travatan eye drop is commercially obtainable in dosing strengths of 0.004%. To apply this eye drop, tilt your head back, look upward and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch. Now, hold the dropper directly over the eye and gently press the dropper to instill one drop in the affected eyes. Afterward, close the eyes and look downward for 1 to 2 minutes. The recommended dose is one drop of Travatan eye drops in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. If a user has to use more than one ophthalmic solution, then keep a gap of 5 to 10 minutes between administrations of two different medications.

  • Do not use Travatan eye drops if you are allergic to generic Travoprost or other components of this medicine.
  • Do not recommend Travatan eye drops to babies under two months of age.
