Description

Cosopt is an optical solution which contains two active pharmaceutical agents; Dorzolamide and Timolol. This medicine is used for the treatment of glaucoma disorder by reducing the pressure in an ocular chamber of the eye. This medicine has two different active compounds which give the same action but different way. Dorzolamide is carbonic anhydrase - II inhibitor. This carbonic anhydrase - II is the main responsible for secretion of aqueous humour in an eye and increase the pressure in an ocular chamber. This chemical ingredient is given their action by inhibiting this enzyme, result in reducing the pressure in the eyeball. Timolol is a come into a class of beta blocker receptor. This ingredient blocks the beta receptor and reduces the pressure in an eye. This medicine should not be used in neonates.

Dosage and administration of Cosopt

Cosopt is an ophthalmic solution which is available in combination of Dorzolamide and Timolol. The dose of this drug is one drop twice in a day. The route of administration is ocular.

Indications of Cosopt

This medicine is used for the management of ocular hypertension or glaucoma disorder

Side effects of Cosopt

The most common adverse effects are itching in eye, increase tearing, inflammation of eye, tiny bumps on lining of the eyelid

Less common adverse events are Hypotension, sudden loss of vision, Irregular heart rate, Dizziness, Flushing, Fatigue confusion and breathing problem.

Rare adverse effects are depression, sweating, skin rash, pain of muscles etc.

Precautions of Cosopt
