Description

Temodar is an oral chemotherapy medicine which helps to reduce the growth of cancer cells. Temozolomide is the main pharmaceutical agent found in the Temodar. It belongs to the group of Alkylating agents used for the treatment of Astrocytoma grade-4 which is a Glioblastoma (aggressive brain tumor). Temodar medicine also cures the Melanoma (skin cancer). Temozolomide interfere with the growth and progress of cancer cells, slowing their growth and spread in the human body. For the treatment of brain tumor consume Temodar tablet with radiation therapy.

Indications of Temodar

  1. Temozolomide is indicated for the treatment of Anaplastic astrocytoma and Glioblastoma multiform (brain tumor).
  2. Temodar also decreases the size of tumor.
  3. Malignant prolactinemia

Doses of Temozolomide

The dose of Temodar mainly depends on the surface area of the brain. The initial prescribed dose of Temodar is 75 mg per m2 each day up to 42 days connected to focal radiotherapy(60 GY administered in 30 fractions) followed by maintenance of Temodar for 6 cycles.

Who should not take Temodar?

Under some medical conditions, Temodar should be prohibited;

  • It should not be given to those patients who are hypersensitive to Temozolomide and other ingredients of Temodar.
  • If you are suffering from Bone marrow cancer, you should not take Temodar.
  • Do not consume Temodar, if you are pregnant because it causes dangerous effects on unborn baby.

Use with some cautions

Some safety measures should be followed before taking Temodar;

  • Do not use Temozolomide, if you are pregnant because it causes unwanted effects on unborn baby.
  • If you are suffering kidney or liver disease, use Temozolomide with some cautions.

Some symptoms of overdosing of Temodar are hair loss, tachycardia and bradycardia (irregular heart beat).
