Description

Yasmin is an oral medicine which is recommended to prevent Ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary) and makes alterations in Cervical and Uterine lining, that make it harder for approach the uterus and complex for a fertilized egg attach to the Uterus. It acts by inhibiting a female’s egg entirely rising each month.  Drospirenone and Ethinylestradiol are the therapeutic agents found in the Yasmin. Yasmin medicine also helps in the treatment of (PMDD), Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It is a condition in which a female suffering from severe depression, irritability and tension before menstruation.

Indications of Yasmin

  1. Yasmin is indicated as an oral contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. It is also used to regularize the periods, and reduces the risk of cyst in ovary.
  2. It can be used to treat (PMDD) Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (severe depression, irritability, and tension before menstruation).
  3. Yasmin is indicated in the treatment of mild to moderate Acne (pimples).

Doses of Yasmin

  • Take this medicine daily at the same time up to 21 days.
    • 21-day pack- Take 1 tablet every day up to 21 days. You should take no tablets for 7 days, and then start the next pack.
    • 28-day pack- Take 1 tablet daily up to 21 days, then take 1 "reminder" tablet daily for 7 days, and then start the next pack.

Who Should Not Take Yasmin?

Under some medical condition, Yasmin medicine should not be given;

  • It is contraindicated in case of renal (kidney) impairment, adrenal deficiency.
  • If patient is allergic to Drospirenone, Ethinyl estradiol and other constituents of Yasmin.
  • If the patient is having a medical history of Cerebrovascular disease, Coronary artery disease, and Cardiac disorder like thrombogenic rhythm disease.
  • Patient is having a medical history of acquired Hypercoagulopathies, Diabetes mellitus, and Uncontrolled Hypertension.
  • In case of undiagnosed irregular uterine bleeding.

  • Keep this medicine at room temperature 300 C.
  • Keep it away from direct sunlight, high temperature and humidity.
  • Keep it in cool and dry place.
  • Keep it out of reach of kids. 

Use with some cautions

Some Safety Measures Should Be Followed Before Using Yasmin;

  • Avoid smoking and drinking of alcohol because it increases the risk of blood clots.
  • Yasmin should not used by a pregnant lady.
  • If you are suffering from Jaundice (yellowing of eyes or skin), use Yasmin with some cautions.

In case of skipped dose of Yasmin

  • If you skip a 1 tablet, take two pills on the day that you remind. Then follow your usual schedule for rest of the pack
  • If you miss 2 tablets in a series in Week 1 or 2, you should administer per day for two days in a sequence. Then follow the normal schedule for the rest of the pack.
  • If you miss 2 pills in a row in Week 3, reject the remaining pack and start with a fresh pack from the same day.
  • If you miss 3 tablets in a row in Week 1, 2, or 3, discard the left over pack and start a new pack on the same day.
  • If you miss a reminder pill, discard it and keep follow regular schedule of one reminder pill per day until the pack is empty.

In Case Of Overdose Of Yasmin

Symptoms of overdose of Yasmin may include feeling of nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding.

In case overdose instantly consult with your doctor and take some medical treatment.
